Beauty in a Second

(MARKS 50) "Beauty/Life in a Second" Please see sample assignment links to get an idea as to how this assignment should look. Essentially, you are to go out and shoot 60 still shots or 60 1 second video clips ( you may need shots to be up to 6 seconds to capture the video fully to allow for editing) and then compile to the specified piece of music in a movie program. The music is the same for all slideshows. When watching the sample videos, music can be downloaded through iTunes mp3 convertor or bought from i -tunes. Please note: when shooting video, you still want your shots to be up close, shot from a an interesting angle and capturing a feeling or essence of the beautiful moments in life. Keep in mind all of the photographic principals and rules of composition we have discussed in class.

Fieldtrip Update: The fieldtrip has been changed from Thurs. May 23 to Thurs. May 30. We will be gone from the beginning of lunch until approx 3:15.

Assignment for Fieldtrip: Downtown shoot. You are to take 20 shots, 5 of the shots must be of the following:

•  a window
•  a mural
•  a product shot up close
•  grafitti
• a portrait

Beauty in a Second Video DUE DATE: Tues. June 4. We will be viewing them in class on Tues. Everyone should ensure that their videos work and be ready to show them. If you are absent on either of these days, you will not receive full marks for the assignment unless things have been arranged with me ahead of time.

Term 4 Assignments

The following is a current list of term 4 assignments to date.

Portraits 20 photos: 10 guy shots, 10 girl shots, preferably the shots should be of the same girl/guy so that you can work with posing and work with a model. Please put in a folder on Flickr.
Gel photo transfer: should be completed by now and handed in to me
Duplicity: 1 shot on Flickr please put this in its own set
Magazine ad OR CD cover: copy printed out and put on wall in classroom (colour printer not working), and a copy on Flickr in its own set
Levitation shot: 1 shot, posted up onto Flickr in its own set, is due May 17
Trick Photography : Something other than levitation or light photos.Compose a description of what you did to get the shot or post a series of shots leading up to the final shot on Flickr.
Video: Beauty in a Second or Song video: due May 30, to be presented in class on Tues. June 1
Downtown shoot: NOTE DATE CHANGE : THURS MAY 0 - 20 shots on Flickr
PLEASE NOTE: If you miss the fieldtrip, you must still complete the photoshoot on your own time.
Work habits: 10 marks
All work should be completed by Fri. June 14. There will be no exceptions!
