"Diversity"
This assignment will be due near the end of term to allow plenty of time for you to work on it.
In one single image show an example of diversity. To be understood in its widest sense, the image of diversity could concern people, culture or environment and could be of a local or global concern. All techniques and styles are welcomed, feel free to use Photoshop for editing. Photos must be crisp, well composed and thoughtful. You will also be evaluated on your ability to express your creativity and to discuss your photo with the class.
Photos: 2 practice photos, choose your best photo to post as the assignment final. As with all assignments, your photos should be well composed, clearly focused and meet the assignment criteria. Post your practice photos and final copy to Flickr.

Course Outline 2018
The focus of this course is on improving and building on basic photographic skills and techniques. We will use photography as a medium for artistic impression. Students will independently create, design and present images that reflect their own individuality and style. Students will create and manipulate personally meaningful images in order to elicit audience response. Some other topics of study include: developing skills in Photoshop CS4, light photography, conceptual photography, commercial photography, how to use manual functions on the camera, creating photographic art and learning about well known photographers, careers in photography, and working toward creating a photographic style.
Strong computer skills, access to a camera, and prior photographic skills will be an asset. Students must have their own 16GB sd card and a jump drive for transferring photos from home to school. A personal card reader would also be helpful.
Preparing for Test #1 ( end of Sept)
You should make notes/study the information for a Review of Basics test . The test will involve some written and practical components, and will be out of 25-30 marks.
Also open up Photoshop and be prepared to know how to use the following tools/complete the following tasks .

- resize and image
- save image as a jpeg
- use the crop and lighting adjustment tool
- be able to put a photo on top of another photo and change opacity
