Canada's Copyright Act

Copyright is granted to the person who owns the film/memory card or, in the case of commissioned photographs, to the customer (provided they had paid in full). Now photography is treated like all other works. 
Please be advised, as of December 30, 2022 , the general term of copyright protection in Canada changes from 50 to 70 years after the death of the author. 

This article focuses on the top 10 Photo Copyright cases. Please have a read through the cases, be prepared to discuss and choose one to respond to in written form. 10 marks

  • be very clear on what side you agree with and explain why
  • lastly define the outcome of the case and whether or not you agree with the outcome
