3. Car shoot: Consider rules of composition, vary your shots, be aware of backgrounds. 20 shots, edited...have some fun with filters and spot colour. Put onto a set on Flickr. (20 marks) Eventually I would like some of your best photos to send to the car owners as a thank-you.
4. Yearbook shots: 15 top quality shots, edited within your topic of choice. See link to class subjects chosen.
5. Macro shots:The macro shots are not traditional macros but rather close-ups. I want you to try to look at ordinary everyday objects in an extraordinary way. Play with camera angles, be very aware of your backgrounds. This might be a good time to try using manual focus on your camera slowing down the process of taking pictures just a little.

Week of Sept. 9 - 13

Required: All students must have a 2-4gb SD card. This is considered  their notebook for photography. These can be purchased at London Drugs, Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, or Superstore. You should not pay any more than $15 dollars for a card. If students do not have their SD card with them in class, they will not be able to take photos. A back up card might be a good idea.

Access to cameras: Students will have access to decent digital SLR cameras for in school use. Out of school borrowing of cameras will require parents and students to sign a waiver acknowledging parental/and or student responsibility to pay replacement costs for a camera if it is lost, stolen or severely damaged while in the care of the student. Students are expected to return the cameras the next school day following borrowing so that they are available in class for other students to use.

Assignment#1: Head shots 3 shots and one photo taken of you. Head shots should be up close, head and shoulders only or have fun with an extreme close up. Your photos should be clear not blurry  Pay particular attention to rule of thirds and basic compositional rules.
Marks: 5 marks

Assignment #2 A: Skatepark Shoot Angles 10 shots. Students are doing two different shoots. Shoot #1 should include 10 shots taken at the skatepark, the focus of this shoot is to take a variety of different shots putting particular attention on the angles of the shots.

This is the End...Summer is here

The purpose of this post is two fold, first to let you know that Fri. June 21 is my absolute last day for you to get any work handed in. My marks are due the following week. I will be starting to evaluate all work today. Secondly, do not forget to get out with your camera and take some great pictures this summer. The world is at your fingertips!

It has been a solid year in Photography this year with some great work produced. Sadly, I will miss my graduating photographers....I hope you keep me as a contact on Flickr so I can continue to enjoy your work and comment on it. If students have further thoughts on how to improve the course, fire me off an email with your suggestions. I am eager to make some chages to improve the course.
Have a good summer!
