Tues. Nov 24 With Freedom Comes Responsibility

 Assignments due this Friday on Flickr

  • 5 Headshots
  • 5 Composition shots with the type of composition written in the description
  • 5 Abstract...a teaser of what you have gotten so far
  • NEXT FRI DEC 4: the rest of abstracts15, product shoot & ads 10 plus 2, portraits 10

Basic Expectations

  • all cameras and cards are signed out and signed back in
  • students are out taking photos when given time to do so
  • all work is handed in on time and in the proper format
  • students do not leave early from class, and are dismissed by the teacher
  • if you need to leave early for some reason you speak to the teacher
  • photos are not taken of art but are art
  • you should go out with your own camera and shoot your own photos
  • photos should be original and not recycled from past work
1. All students should open up Flickr and show that you have me as a contact, your assignments are albums, you have a headshot of yourself as an avatar, and your background photo has been changed

2. Photoshop lesson and time to practice. NEW ASSIGNMENT DUE TODAY: OVERLAY print out and hand in 10 marks

3. Introduction to Product Photography.

Product photography is a branch of commercial photography which is about accurately but attractively representing a product. The principal application of product photography is in product catalogues and brochures, with a proportion of product images also being used in advertising.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT
Ad Shoot and Final Ads: You are to decide on a product to shoot, and try shooting it many different ways. You are expected to do 10 shots minimum. Once you have done this, in consultation with the teacher or others in the class, you are going to determine which 2 photos will work best for an ad and then create the ad from these 2 photos. You will then edit for lighting, put on text ( an ad slogan) or a logo. Marks 20
