Working on Magazine Cover

 Magazine Cover Assignment: (Marks 20) 

The magazine cover requires you to take a vertical photo that is at a very high quality, and using photoshop you are to create the cover of a magazine. I should be able to look at the     cover of your magazine and think it is a real magazine. 

Please save on the M drive /under chase 2023 11/12/magazine cover. Also save a copy in your own files.

 Please save as a jpg and a Photoshop file in case you need to make any     changes.

 Criteria: Please try to complete for  Tues of next week. Please include the   following:

• bar code
• coordinating colours
• clear, high resolution verticle photo taken by YOU
• 3 sets of text with page numbers drawing the reader in
• Header matches the actual magazine text or is very close
• text size is appropriate for the magazine
• looks visually pleasing and is sized properly
• looks like a real magazine cover
• you need to use Photoshop not an app for this assignment ( i may ask to see your photoshop file)

The end of term is Thurs. Nov 10 and all of the following work needs to be done by this date, otherwise you will end up with an INCOMPLETE on your term 1 report card.

Your task: write a paragraph discussing what you think about the artist selling photos in an art gallery without the individual's permission. Add any other thought about any of the other things you have learned about copyright.

TERM 2 Assignment

Portraits 

Working with a model of your choice, you should plan to set up a portrait shoot. You will need 20 different shots of one model. Plan to shoot a variety of different shots including but not limited to: a couple of head shots, several full body shots, creative shots using the lcd projector/costumes/props etc. Study other portrait photographer's work and learn how to effectively pose your model.

This assignment is worth 30 marks. 20 marks for your portraits posted to M drive and 10 marks for your portraits put into a slideshow, set to music for viewing. If you do not meet the deadline for the slideshow, you will receive a zero for the presentation portion of the assignment.

Tips:

• plan your shots/shoot
• be aware of where the light is ( best times to shoot dawn and dusk)
• choose a good background
• use a prop ( umbrella, hat, scarf, pumpkin etc.)
• shoot people in their element ( skateboarder with a skateboard at the skatepark)
• create a rapport with your model and direct the shoot, which means tell the model what you want them to do.

So maybe you can research posing and plan your model and location. If you have done your shoot, you should spend some good quality time editing. If you are doing your portraits at school, find someone to photograph and get busy. There are lots of places to shoot around the school. ( skate park, woods, garage door near the soccer clubhouse, metal storage containers on the soccer fields, Ms. Chase's white wall in the art room )

Weddings packages are custom depending on your personal needs and budget. I would love to talk with you about the photography for your wedding, and put together a price for you. Wedding packages start at just $450 for up to 1.5 hours of photography and include 40 images downloadable images.

Additional images $15 each

Facial retouch- includes blemish or scare removal and overall skin smoothing $5 per photo

Retrieval of misplaced photos $20

Travel- I am available for travel and will consider travel on a case by case basis. Travelling under 10 km is included with each full session.

Clients can order their favourite photos from a large selection of high-end printing options including, enlargements, canvases and gifts directly from my website.

I am truly grateful to clients who allow me to use their photo's on social media. Not only does it allow me to promote my business, but also I am genuinely excited and proud to share my work with my followers. If however, a client prefers not to have their images shared, a Model Release Free option is available for a $50 fee.

Please ensure Assignment 1 and 2 are fully completed. I will be marking this weekend.

A tentative deadline of this week is also set for the Scavenger Hunt Assignment.

You should be working on:

• Fall shots: 4 plus 1 experimental
• Portraits including a self portrait that somehow focuses on who you are
• Magazine cover photo shot vertically using the digital slr
• Determine a product you will want to shoot for a product advertisement
